Blood Work

It is important to understand your pet’s blood work, and the reasoning behind results. A CBC, the most common test performed on pets and humans. It gives information on hydration status, anemia, infection, the blood’s clotting ability, and the ability of the immune system to respond.

Art City Vets is equipped with an in-house laboratory capable of running a range of diagnostic blood tests with immediate results. In addition to our in-house services, we also collaborate with external laboratories when necessary. Your pet’s results will then be automatically uploaded into your pet’s patient portal, reviewed by the doctor, and you will be notified with the results.

Blood work is vital in both diagnosing medical conditions, and preventing such conditions from advancing. Annual testing for heartworm and intestinal parasites, ensures that we treat any potential infections at the first on-set, rather than when they have advanced to the point of further complications. Pre-surgical blood work is done when a pet is admitted for anesthetic procedures, and is done by our in-house laboratory. Our caring surgical staff will obtain a sample before your pet is anesthetized and the veterinary surgeon will review the results before your pet’s procedure to ensure he/she is at the optimum level of safety while under sedation.

Senior wellness blood screenings and a wide variety of diagnostic panels are also offered. These panels allow us to check such crucial aspects as a pet’s thyroid level, kidney and liver values, and blood count. Our veterinarians will always thoroughly explain the recommended testing for your pet at the time of your appointment.
